MP3: Wale- CJ Genesis Ustream

Wale
is one of my favorite freshmen rappers. Seems everything he does is golden. His live shows are dope, just like his freestyles. On January 26, 2009; Wale asked anyone for a beat so he could freestyle over it. Well, he did it over Ustream courtesy of CJ Genesis.

David Bazan: Sweet Briar College Feb 17th 2007

There used to be a time where all I did was listen to folk music. Well, at least I thought I did. David Bazan has been one of my favorite artists ever. Through his years with Pedro the Lion and his side project Headphones, this man is genius. He can put anyone in a calm mood with his lazy, heavy voice.

Being the man himself is releasing a new disc next month (American Flags via Barsuk), I've posted my favorite live set of his. Thank you to the dude who sent me it on the Weatherbox Forums. I would have posted this earlier, but I lost the set when my iPod broke. I hope everyone enjoys it. You can PREORDER David Bazan's new record, American Flags, here.

A Merry Linden Christmas

I love this time of year. No lies. Love the cold weather, love physical labor. However, I don't love the cookies being baked in my house, the frustrations between me and relatives, and me having no money whatsoever. My friend is in a band called Linden. They just released an EP, appropriately titled "A Merry Linden Christmas." It's four songs, all acoustic. The female vocals between Kara and Casi Carlson is gorgeous. So yeah, go download the EP. It's free!

Track List:

1. My Angel (Acoustic)
2. Over and Over (Acoustic)
3. Redefine (Acoustic)
4. What Child Is This (Acoustic Cover)

The Higher I go in life, the less mature i go

This girl I talked to showed me this video of all these high school kids describing their year with one word or one phrase. She thought the video was the best idea ever. It was pretty unique. But it really didn't have that huge of a factor for me. I was more interested in the music behind the video. Wound up being The Higher.

I pretty much wrote off this band by how bad they were. How the lyrics were terrible. I think I even used them to get to a girl one time. Doubt it worked. But whatever, that doesn't matter. I think i really wrote off this band after they came out with that terrible music video for "Insurance?" But I went back to re-listen to older releases. Their release "On Fire" isn't that bad after all. I mean, am I going to listen to this when there's no music left for me to check out? Probably not. But for some good catchy music and mass amounts of piano rock. This band has it.

I know this song is a song a fan favorite and all but "Histrionics" has become one of my most listened to songs on my lap top. It's a pretty simple song explaining how some guy keeps getting screwed over by the same girl over and over again. The song really has no relevances to the personality disorder called Histrionics. Quite frankly, I think vocalist Seth Trotter used the word wrong so it could fit in the song. Maybe mistaking the word to been "history?" Who knows. Check out the lyrics below.

One check, one love, How many times can we watch him crumble? Histrionics repeats itself all over again, I'm down on what you say, You're becoming so the same, If it were up to me you're gone I've been dyin to get it into you somehow, One check, one love, How many times can we watch him crumble? Histrionics repeats itself all over again, I'm down on what you say, You're becoming so much the same girl, If it were up to me you're gone I've been dying to get it into you somehow

So that girl really got me thinking about other releases I didn't like. Maybe I'll blog about something different tomorrow/later. I don't know. But life right now is (hate to say it) "one check, one love." Love haha. Yeah right.

[MP3] The Maine- This Town's Been Talkin' (Remix)

[MP3] The Maine- This Town's Been Talkin' (Remix)

My first "Mp3" giveaway. I came across this band about a year and half ago. I don't even know if that's the right dating. They only had these two demos available on the Internet called "Daisy" and "This Towns Been Talkin'."

A line up change (sorta) and they go by The Maine. This song was for free download about a year ago. I think it's cool to show off some of the music I used to obsess over in 2007. Oh yeah, they have two EP's out and are done with their new full length, courtesy of Fearless Records.
