Lyrics for Miss California:
I called on Jesus
But he didn't check his phone today
Oh, there's my summer girl
I've been wanting her
I hear she's got a boyfriend
Thought I could leave her for a season
But it just got cold
Yeah, and it's a lonely hour
In my cell phone tower
Broken down transmission
But I'm gonna take you to
My boxcar on the beach
And I'm gonna hang the sun above your bed
And soak your hair in bleach
You'll be missed, Miss California
You'll be kissed by only me
When they can't find you
You'll turn into a mystery
But you're no mystery to me,
Miss California
I called on Jesus,
But he heard I hurt his little girl
Yeah, with my reckless stare
I've been so unfair
Misplacing my affections
She had a reason not to take me
Back into her care
Oh, I'm just a stray dog now
I can beg or bow
Just gimme me some direction
But I'm gonna take you to the mansion where I hide
And I'm gonna paint a diamond on your hand
You will be my bride
You'll be missed, Miss California
You'll be kissed by only me
When they can't find you
You'll turn into a mystery
But you're no mystery to me,
Miss California.
Miss California
I'll be around
I'll be around
You'll be missed, Miss California
You'll be kissed by only me
When they can't find you
You'll turn into a mystery
But not to me
You'll be missed, Miss California
We'll be married in the rain
When they can't find you
I'm sure I'll be the one they blame
But they can't prove anything,
Miss California
Miss California
I'll be around

but what I don't know...
is what's inside of me. I wrote a review for Nightmare of You a while back. For the Bang EP. While the EP shows many sides of what the guys are capable to do; there's one song that sticks out to me a lot. entailed "I Was Never A Normal Boy". Brandon Reilly really amazes me as a musician. He's been one of m y favorite artists out there. Reilly explained the song about himself. How he was in a psychiatric hospital. The song itself is one of my favorites ever. He explains how he indeed was never a normal boy. He rants about the president. One of the best lines in the song is listed below. I think it relates to me a lot. Being well, woman aren't the easiest thing to get. I'm still not sure where I belong still.
"I am not sure where I belong still I was never a normal boy I don't go out unless its demanded of me I already know what is outside But what I don't know is What is inside of me."

Just Surrender- Stronger Now EP
It hasn't even been a year yet since Just Surrender released We're In Like Sin. Quite frankly, I found that album a huge let down compared to If These Streets Could Talk. The release contained too much pop; unlike the sound Just Surrender established in previous works. So I was pleasantly surprised to see them coming out with a new EP, Stronger Now.
Strong Now contains four songs. Two new tracks, an acoustic, and a remix. The EP leads with the self titled track "Stronger Now." Hopefully, this is an indication to what direction Just Surrender takes for the future. Many can say the best trait Just Surrender carries is how they have two polished singers. Jason Maffucci and Dan Simons might be one of the best co-singers in music right now. Such as in the track "Crazy"; both Maffucci and Simons bounce back and fourth with the lyric "You've got me going crazy, crazy, crazy." The band has seemed also to bring back the old sound by the return of former guitarist Andrew Meunier. One can hear old sounds to this new EP.
The album tends to mellow out with the acoustic rendition of "I Can Barely Breathe." It really showcases the talents of the singers in this band as well as their guitar work. Just Surrender decided they needed to do a remix of a song that wasn't that good in the beginning. "I Said It Before's" remix is terrible. I mean, you can listen to it. But, do I really need to listen to DDR or dance pop music? I came to listen to Poughkeepsie's finest band. Just a fun track they added.
Overall, Stronger Now really opens my ears again. I practically wrote off on this band with their last release; but I am excited to see what happens in the future with this band. With such tours as Warped Tour and touring nationally, Just Surrender have a very short path to follow to success.

Sorry about the lack of progress mate
Hello all 27 viewers
My PC has a virus. The trojan virus. Not good I don't think. So I'm on a lap top until my friend fixes it. Summer has been alright so far. A little too much baseball. Matter of fact, I have a game in about two hours. I haven't been to many shows either.
But:
Next week: Fireworks/2*sweet
Then warped the following week
siren music festival 7/19
atlas sound sometime next next week.
ya. And they are all free.
New review of the scenic, rookie of the year, and Just surrender are up by Monday. Busy busy busy.
Bye

The Higher I go in life, the less mature i go
This girl I talked to showed me this video of all these high school kids describing their year with one word or one phrase. She thought the video was the best idea ever. It was pretty unique. But it really didn't have that huge of a factor for me. I was more interested in the music behind the video. Wound up being The Higher.
I pretty much wrote off this band by how bad they were. How the lyrics were terrible. I think I even used them to get to a girl one time. Doubt it worked. But whatever, that doesn't matter. I think i really wrote off this band after they came out with that terrible music video for "Insurance?" But I went back to re-listen to older releases. Their release "On Fire" isn't that bad after all. I mean, am I going to listen to this when there's no music left for me to check out? Probably not. But for some good catchy music and mass amounts of piano rock. This band has it.
I know this song is a song a fan favorite and all but "Histrionics" has become one of my most listened to songs on my lap top. It's a pretty simple song explaining how some guy keeps getting screwed over by the same girl over and over again. The song really has no relevances to the personality disorder called Histrionics. Quite frankly, I think vocalist Seth Trotter used the word wrong so it could fit in the song. Maybe mistaking the word to been "history?" Who knows. Check out the lyrics below.
One check, one love, How many times can we watch him crumble? Histrionics repeats itself all over again, I'm down on what you say, You're becoming so the same, If it were up to me you're gone I've been dyin to get it into you somehow, One check, one love, How many times can we watch him crumble? Histrionics repeats itself all over again, I'm down on what you say, You're becoming so much the same girl, If it were up to me you're gone I've been dying to get it into you somehow
So that girl really got me thinking about other releases I didn't like. Maybe I'll blog about something different tomorrow/later. I don't know. But life right now is (hate to say it) "one check, one love." Love haha. Yeah right.

Current Obsession: One for the Team
I don't think many things are going to well right now. For one, my computer got some spy-ware on it or something. It messed up my computer last night; but thanks to my free virus protecting service called AVG 7.5, my problems are gone. Everything is back to normal I believe. Another problem is Firefox for some reason doesn't have the "easy search" google engine anymore. I can't live like this. Oh yeah, I have no love life what so ever.
To add to these, music lately has been so dull and boring. I hear another band talk about their former lover that they still aren't over. Come on. Grow up and make music actually worth listening to. Some like the dudes and lady in One for the Team. I feel relieved for listening to this band. Like seriously, it's a whole new sound of music/feelings. The combination of vocalists Ian Anderson and Grace Fiddler is what ever band with a male/female approach wishes they sounded like.
I really hope this release fairs well. Build It Up is currently my favorite record of the year. Not one song is boring or not unique. The lyrics are words that pretty much everyone can relate to. Thank you guys for seriously giving me something interesting/enjoyable to listen to. So go out and buy their new record on iTunes. I would love to see this blow up.
